Data Deletion

At I Am Alive, we respect your right to control your personal data. This page explains how you can request the deletion of your data and what happens when you do.

1. How to Delete Your Data

Option A: Delete from Within the App

  1. Open the I Am Alive app
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Tap "Delete My Account & Data"
  4. Confirm the deletion when prompted

This will immediately delete your account and all associated data from our servers.

Option B: Request via Email

If you are unable to access the App, you can request data deletion by sending an email to:

Please include "Data Deletion Request" in the subject line. To help us identify your account, please provide the following (if available):

  • The device you used with the App (make and model)
  • Approximate date you last used the App
  • Your display name or alias (if you set one)

We will process your request within 30 days and confirm deletion via email.

2. What Data Is Deleted

When you request data deletion, the following data is permanently removed:

  • Account data: Your anonymous device ID and authentication credentials
  • Check-in history: All timestamps, streaks, and milestone records
  • Trust Circle: All emergency contact information you added
  • Chat history: All messages exchanged with Alive Bot
  • Leaderboard data: Your rank and streak data are removed from the global leaderboard
  • Preferences: All settings and configuration choices

3. What Data May Be Retained

In certain cases, we may retain limited data as required:

  • Aggregated analytics: Non-identifiable, aggregated usage statistics (e.g., total app installs) that cannot be linked back to you.
  • Legal obligations: Data that we are required to retain by law, regulation, or legal proceedings will be kept for the minimum required period.

4. Effects of Deletion

Please be aware that once your data is deleted:

  • Your check-in streaks, badges, and milestones cannot be recovered
  • Your Trust Circle contacts will no longer receive alerts from your account
  • Your leaderboard position will be removed
  • If you reinstall the App, you will start with a completely fresh account

5. Automatic Deletion

Accounts that have been inactive for more than 12 months may be automatically deleted along with all associated data.
